Using Foresight

Uploading creatives

In short

Click "New analysis", add one or more files (or a link), then optionally set an objective, a platform and a comparison group. Each file uses one analysis from your plan, and the upload continues in the background.

Every analysis starts from New analysis (on the dashboard(opens Foresight in a new tab), in Projects(opens Foresight in a new tab) or inside a folder). The wizard has four steps: upload, objective, platform and benchmark. Only the first is required; the other three are optional and can be skipped.

Step 1: Upload your creative

Drag files onto the upload area or click Select files.

Accepted
ImagesJPG, PNG, WebP (BMP and TIFF are also accepted)
VideosMP4, MOV, WebM, GIF and other common video formats (MKV, AVI, FLV, 3GP)
File sizeUp to 50 MB per file
Video lengthUp to 90 seconds
BatchUp to 50 images or 10 videos at a time (one media type per batch)

You never choose "image" or "video": Foresight detects the media type from the file. An animated GIF is analysed as a video, with a timeline and scenes, and is compared with videos.

Naming. For a single file, give the analysis a project name (it's pre-filled from the file name). When you add several files, each analysis takes the name of its file, and by default the batch is grouped into a new folder that you can name. Switch off "Group these analyses in a new folder" if you'd rather keep them loose. If you start the wizard from inside a folder, the new analyses go straight into that folder.

Import from link. Instead of a file, you can paste a direct link to an image file: a URL ending in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .bmp or .tiff. The same 50 MB limit applies. Link import works for images only: to analyse a video, upload the file.

One media type per batch. A batch holds only images or only videos. The first file you add sets the type; files of the other type are rejected with a note, so upload them in a separate batch.

Analyses used. Each file uses one analysis from your plan. Before you start, the wizard shows how many analyses this upload will use and how many will remain. If your plan has expired or has no analyses left, the wizard tells you at this step (see Plans and analyses).

Step 2: Objective

"What is the goal of this creative?" Pick Brand building, Consideration, Conversion, Trust, or No specific objective.

The objective only shapes the AI insights: the summary and recommendations are written around that goal, and you get fewer, more strategic recommendations. It never changes a score, a heatmap or a benchmark. More in Campaign objectives.

Step 3: Platform

"Where will people see it?" Choose Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok (videos only) or No platform to analyse the raw creative (the default).

A preview next to the choices shows your creative inside the selected app's screen. With a platform, attention is simulated on your creative as it appears there. For images, choosing a platform also removes the sector comparison (see step 4). See What changes when you pick a platform.

Step 4: Benchmark (comparison group)

This step chooses the comparison value shown next to every score.

  • Images: pick a creative type (Advertising or Packaging) and, optionally, an industry sector. If you pick a sector without a type, Advertising is assumed. Sectors that aren't available for the chosen type appear greyed out. Packaging comparisons come with a caution note in the app.
  • Images shown inside a platform: there are no type or sector groups, so the picker is hidden and any earlier pick is cleared. Sector norms apply to images analysed on their own.
  • Videos: there are no type or sector groups, and no comparison value is shown.
  • Nothing selected, videos and images inside a platform: your scores are still positioned against the reference library of the same media type, but no comparison value (and no "+N / −N" difference) is shown.

The comparison group never changes your scores, only the reference shown next to them. More in Sectors and formats.

Start the analysis

Click Start analysis. The wizard closes at once and the upload continues in the background: a small dock at the bottom of the screen shows progress and tells you when results are ready. You can set up another analysis straight away. See Account, settings and notifications.
